Vlisco

Since 1846, Vlisco has been creating unique textiles, in Holland, that have influenced the fashion landscape in West and Central Africa. These textiles are a display of true Dutch craftsmanship and as such were originally known as ‘Hollandais’, from the French word for ‘Dutch’. Vlisco is still today the only brand creating authentic Dutch wax fabrics and is recognizable for its unique design, colours and wax effects which combine to create this inspiring fashion statement. In fact, every centimetre of fabric is unique due to the special wax process, which originates from batik techniques. Vlisco has several ranges: classic designs that embrace our long history; limited edition collections that bring innovation and new inspiration; eye-catching luxury editions and accessories. Vlisco’s inspiring designs have made Vlisco an international brand that is a market leader in African prints.

The originality and reputation of the Vlisco brand have been the target of criminal activity, seeking to make profit illegally from the unauthorized use of the Vlisco brand. Counterfeit Vlisco fabrics (Superwax, Wax Blocks and Java) are now in the market. Counterfeiters seek to deceive consumers by copying and marketing fabrics bearing Vlisco trade marks, word marks and designs. Whilst Vlisco prides itself on inspiring others to create fashion and apparel, the products are literally being copied. Be sure therefore to buy original Vlisco!
